It's just too awful outside for pictures today. The wind is blowing like crazy and the rain is torrential. The dogs braved the rain this morning for a run around and got nice and wet! Now that the wind is trying to blow us away we've moved to indoor play instead. They brought a good bit of mud in so it's almost like playing outside. :)
So here are a few more pictures from yesterday when the sun was out.

Were they sensing today's impending weather?
They're all keeping under the roof.

Hope all the parents are having a wonderful vacation because all the kids are!! We've got a great group of dogs staying with us this week and many come over to play at day care. Our regular crew has been has been enjoying their company. They love seeing new faces and sniffing new... well you know!
Today I thought I'd switch the view up a bit and I snuck around behind the yard to get some candid shots.

Bacon and Colby share some time Nick keeps an eye open, I think he
together as they stroll the perimeter. can hear me rustling in the bushes.

Jake spies from behind the fallen stump. He's been such a great boarder. After having him for almost a month he's like family.
We'll certainly miss him when he leaves us next week.

Sula found herself a boyfriend. Don't her Abby's here for her month
and Dante make a handsome couple? long stay. She's a pro at it though, seeing as she
did it last year.

Her brother Jib might not have spotted me, The jig is up. Barney
but I think Tilly has. sounds the alarm.

Yup, they definitely found me.

Some "Hellos" from Kirby and Zabette.

And not to be out spoken, Bella, Noah and Knuckles all chime in.

As I headed back through the kennel, the crew came racing in.
I think they think we're playing Hide and Seek.
I'm getting an awful lot of "We found you!" looks.

It's chilly, but the sun is shining which means the dogs will play! Today is a rare day, rather than blurs in the yard and wet nose prints on the camera, we were able to get the dogs standing still! So here are some of the glamour shots of the day.
Bella, Ruby and Shiloh show off their poses. Nauset starts as a blur, but then slows down a bit to give us his best pose.
Zeus and Colby give us piercing eyes, while Gryphon shows off how muddy he can get after only being here an hour.
Colby loves the tree roots. Today however, he has found the hole covered by the fallen tree, and decides that will be his new "root pillow". Gunther is quite handsome, and has come over to daycare to spend the day with some of his boarding friends.
Nikki struts her stuff with her friends. Elliot, Paddy and Finnegan bat their puppy dog eyes, and request to spend their day playing indoors.

Belle's first day. Belle, a cute and furry little Lowchen, came in for her very first day of day care today. She started with a nice love-fest in the office to meet her new human friends while mom headed out. She's a little nervous around noise so we thought a good place to start would be in the back hall where the noise of those crazies running around is muffled. She's a curious little thing, checking out every corner and was thrilled to meet a couple of new friends. Nellie and Finnegan, our "official" ambassadors of day care greeted her with tails waggin'. We love her already!!

We're a approaching February break for the kids. Don't forget day care will be running as usual. And with this nice weather we've been having we hope to see all of you next week!

Zabette, with her "bookends"- Clara played with Knuckles today
Smea and Beau but he wouldn't stay still for a picture

Sailor with her BFF Kirby in tow. The little guys want to know what's
going on in the big yard.
Let's take a look...

Jake and Georgia keep check of the Lucy peeks in the igloo,
yard, each in their own way, Georgia "Anyone home?"
patrols while Jake sniffs everything.

Hannah basks in the sun. Lovebud and Lewis are looking for
for their sunny spot to sun bathe.

Not all pictures are perfect. Lewis and Jazz got just a little too close.

The sun is back out and promises to warm up again. The dogs are happily roaming the yard which has finally dried out. Yea! We have a few visitors from boarding with us today. Jake, Barney, Toby and Kady, Jake and Brewster, Griffin and Jackson all give a shout out to their parents, "Hope your enjoying your vacation as much as we are enjoying ours!!"
Now on to the play! The two most popular play items in the yard...
The Tennis Ball

Griffin and Barney show off their prize

Maggie and Fenno give their best "throw it please!" faces
And The Stick

Lovebud and Stella say, "It's Dental Month!
We're chewing our teeth clean!"

Toby's still contemplating which end to start on.
Only slightly less popular is placing house!

And then sometimes they just like to run around and be dogs. Sit in the sunshine, chat with friends, just be dogs. That's the best!

The Valentine's exchange was a HUGE success! Here we are getting everything ready.
We hope you all enjoyed them as much as we did! We are so impressed and awed by our customers and their dogs!
Also a success, our 1st ever Valentine's Day party held on Saturday, Feb. 12 - homemade dog treats, goodies for the humans, pictures, and lovely Valentine expressions of love. We had such a good time visiting with everyone. Thank you all for coming!
Wedgie is a little embarassed by the glitter
and bows (see below)
Milo is a love! Jake says, "I'll be your Valentine
for that cookie in your hand!"
Veronica shows off Pierre's mom's
expression of love: hamburger "cakes"
Nike's family composed a sweet poem
Finn's moms created a card of love with photos and poems
And the first place winner: Paddy V.'s family, with
their "cake" creation (above and below)
Our less than successful pictures below!
What a beautiful day!! The dogs' spirits were high as they frolicked around in the puddles. It was nothing but smiles as they chatted about the Valentine goodies they brought in for each other.

Ruby and Champion go pounce! One of the few times Fenno went around the puddle instead of through it

The "Golden Crew" turned into the "Drippy Muddy Crew"
by the end of the day. Puddle jumping was just too much fun.

While the big guys romp around, the little guys peek out the door
wondering if it's worth getting their pretty little feet dirty.
"There's plenty of room to play inside!" says Smea from inside.

Birthday buddies, Summer and Cody shared a song and some cake today. We had a little trouble getting the hats to sit on straight. They kept getting stuck on those big ears they both have :)

Summer says, "Are you sure that's low fat?"
Cody says, "Who cares! It's yummy!"

Summer concedes, "The cake is good."

Cassie sings "Happy Birthday" to our birthday pups! She should be the next American Idol!

Bear, Cosmos, Snickers, Luigi, Charlie and Ray Charles all strike a pose in the little yard. They are hoping to find true love this Valentine's Day.

Cupid's arrows are flying about as Kirby and Sailor bond over the tennis ball. While Ray Charles tells Macey that she looks wonderful in her red jacket. But where is Cupid?

There she is! Perched high on her play palace, Ruby plays matchmaker amongst all of her friends.

Looks like one of Ruby's arrows flew into the big yard
and struck Nike. He's found true love.

What a day!! The sun came out (always a bonus!) though the temperature stayed low. The dogs were full of beans today, just bouncing off the walls. We did a lot of yard switching to keep the groups fresh and the playmates new. In the end we all hit the big yard for some group photo time. So here they are: Brady, Hank, Jazz, Sophie, Lucy, Sam, Jake, Bailey, "Little" Lucy and Sadie, Paddy, Rosie, Nick, Lovebud, Fig, Stella and Lucy, Boomer... and even more that I didn't catch on camera!!

(Sorry I ran out of time before I got to the little guys - I promise tomorrow will be all about them!!)

Everyone is a little different on a cold day after a brief warm spell...

Hannah and Charlie are happy to rest inside for awhile on their beds, while Buddie W. politely says, "I know I am little, but it isn't too cold out for me. I wanna play too!"
Cassie, with her trademark red patch, and Boone choose to sport the latest in dog outerwear, prompting Toby (one of several visitors from boarding) to ask Cassie, "Who are you wearing, girlfriend?"

Olivia, Riven, Lovebud, and Bay go the old fashioned route and keep moving to produce maximum body heat.

Wrigley basks in the warm glow of the afternoon sun as Bandit's steely gaze lets everyone know his natural coat trumps everyone elses' efforts.

Riley and Kady forget the cold as they stare longingly into each others' eyes. Lovebud, ironically, will have none of that mushy stuff as he stays busy finding a good spot for his ball and branch. Toby again comes over in sheer awe of all the fun that can await his other boarding friends when they spend the day in daycare! It's the fun side.
Ruby is the most original and has the best knowledge of thermodynamics as she stands on top of the igloo, hoping the body heat from her friends who may congregate inside then rises to warm her paws.

What a great way to end the week! With SUN!!!! Tons of our four legged friends came in to enjoy a day of play during our reprieve from the bad weather.
Mr. Jazz is spending an extended stay with us. He flip flops
back and forth between boarding, day care and ruling the halls.
He was in quite a mood over at day care today. Here are a few
pictures sharing him in his rare form...

Crazed for ball Cruizin' with the pack

Pig pile doggy style Nothing but tongue

These are the faces that I just want to squeeeeeeze, they're so cute!!! Those pleading eyes and wet black noses are just too cute to resist.

There's nothing better than a frozen tennis ball!
Happy Birthday to you, Cosmos!

February 3, 2011
Oh baby it's cold outside!! With all the cold, ice, rain and other horrible weather Mother Nature has thrown at us it's hard to get out for those walks your dog desperately wants. So don't take your dog for a walk, bring them here to play for the day! That's what 40 families did today. Their dogs are running all that excess energy out and wrestling the day away with their friends.

Happy February! The dogs are thrilled that more snow is accumulating out there. Nothing like a big game of ball in the snow! The group is smaller today, but they are having a blast.

Everybody starts out on a giant game of tag, while Buster is on a mission to find a tennis ball!

Zeus, Molly, Love Bud and Hannah show off their snowy poses, while Zander tells us that he would rather be under the roof.

Marley and Dash have started to round up the balls. Marley has never met a tennis ball that didn't quickly become his friend.

Dash found a ball frozen into the ground, he tried hard to get it out but will have to wait until spring. Boone, Cassie, Molly and Marley wait for the balls to be thrown!

Rufus wants to say "Hi Dad!" He has had so much fun dancing with Cassie, and chasing Buster around. He'll sleep tight tonight.

Ruby and Pecan have been outside braving the cold while their friends have spent most of their time playing inside. Ruby gives a big stretch and sings to her bigger friends on the other side, while Pecan springs
up to say hi!
