Our staff is a special group of people who love animals and recognize and understand the work that love involves. We are all dedicated to your pets. It is not uncommon to find one of us in the feeding room prepping meals with a four-legged friend from the kennel for company. We fret over who will make the best friend for another pet and have even been found on the floor hand feeding a dog who is reluctant to eat. Many times we will recognize a pet well before we recognize the owner! And while we can tell you all this here, give us a chance to spoil and fuss over your pet. We promise we will treat your pet as we would our own.
KIRSTEN - owner
As a child, Kirsten grew up with English Cocker Spaniels, Labrador Retrievers, and English Setters. Having been raised at the kennel, it was only natural that Kirsten would take over the reins full-time in 1991. Her strong work ethic, customer service skills and an understanding of pets and their people can be credited to her parents, Joe and Dana.
In her spare time, Kirsten is an avid amateur golfer and loves to read.
NOELLE
Noelle started with us in 1993. She and Kirsten have two children, Delaney and Colby. Their other family members are Scout, a bull terrier, Pecan, a Boston Terrier, and Catsby, a goldfish.
Noelle likes to read and exercise when she has the time!
JOANNE
Joanne joined us in 2002 when she moved back to the Cape from a stint in Wisconsin. She has two kids, Ben, who works with us too, and Chelsea. They have a menagerie that includes three dogs (Oscar, Scooby, and Smeagol), two cats (Cami and Fudge), three bunnies and a ferret. With so many of her own animals, it is a given that Jo loves being with your pets too.
Joanne is a pro at evaluating your dog and knowing who might be a good friend. She is very good at match-making!
VERONICA
Veronica joined Nauset Kennels in November of 2008 to continue her love for working with animals. She has been in the pet care industry for over seven years, including kennel work, grooming and pet-sitting.
She has two cats of her own, Tang and Chili, and recently adopted, Lori, our kennel dog who was looking for a home.
Veronica's sense of humor and ability to handle any task help us all stay sane and happy.
JULES
Jules joined us spring of 2009 and is a natural with animals. She lives with her boyfriend and new dog, McLovin', another dog from the kennel who needed a new home.
Jules loves to travel and even spent a year in Australia.
Jules's care for people and pets is evident every day. And she is dog crazy!
BEN
Ben attends Nauset High School and started working at the kennel as soon as he turned fourteen. He helps out behind the scenes, in both the kennel and the cat room. Ben’s gentle personality makes him a natural with animals.
LESLEE
Bringing 16 years of grooming experience and a dedication to always do what is best for your pet, Leslee recently joined our team in May 2009.
A lighthouse keeper’s daughter, she grew up on the Cape & Island’s moving from one lighthouse to another until finally settling in Brewster.
Leslee has one son, Spencer who attends Nauset High and they live with their dogs Boone (Rhodesian Ridgeback), Lakota (Australian Cattle Dog) and 2 cats Sheyala and Uncas.
Leslee wows us with her ability to transform pets. She can make a cute dog even cuter. And she is phenomenal with difficult dogs.
BETSY
Betsy lives above the new kennel with Tristan, Roxie, Pounce and Lola. Betsy's family has ties to Wellfleet, and she has spent lots of time here, so relocating from Indiana to the Cape was easy.
Betsy's presence at the front desk allows us to stay focused on your pets, which is our passion. Her people skills are superb. And, she also fawns over your pets.
KATIE
Katie is rejoining us this summer after spending time in Chicago working for a vet clinic. We hope she stays - she claims "The Cape keeps calling her back," so maybe she will!
Katie's love of animals shows in her absolute
dedication to her job.
Katie is back in Chicago for the winter, but we are looking forward to the chance that she will be back next summer!
CARRIE
Carrie comes to us with over four years of
kennel experience.
She and her dogs, Cody, a Border Collie, and
Nikita, a Rottweiler, recently moved to Wellfleet. Carrie also has a horse named Derby.
Carrie's prior experience and attention to detail are invaluable.
AMBER
Amber joined us this fall as our trainer. We are so pleased with her level of expertise and commitment to dogs and their owners. She earned her certifications from the highly respected Triple Crown Academy located in Austin, Texas. Her skills are many - go to
her website to read more!
Amber currently lives on Cape Cod and
shares her life with 4 dogs: A working-line
German Shepherd named Carbon, a Pembroke
Corgi named Farley, a Gordon Setter mix named Zack, and a ball of fire Border Collie named Fizz.
It is so much fun to watch Amber around
the kennel training dogs. It is obvious that
she loves her job.
HUGGA
Hugga joined us on Thurs. Nov. 26, 2009.
He was left at the Animal Rescue League
in Brewster and Dawn knew he would
be the right kitty for us!
most of the gang is here (missing Joanne and Carrie)
some of the dogs are ours, some are from the kennel and day care
our "silly" picture - we really are sillier than this - stage fright!!!
