FYI Thurs. Feb. 25, 2010 |
We have had a few cases of canine cough reported this week. As always, don't panic! Some people ride it out, while others report to their vet. Read more here: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/kennel_cough.html Unfortunately, like school, we've also had a stomach bug that is causing some diarrhea. Again, don't panic (do you panic when you get diarhhea?). Unless your dog has other conditions that would exacerbate this issue, try fasting the dog for a day (don't worry - they really can go without food for 24 hours). Then feed rice mixed with a bit of boiled hamburger just to flavor. If the diarrhea doesn't clear up in a few days, then call the vet. We've received some criticism for being so open about this, and unfortunately, some people have actually gotten a bit angry. However, we feel that people prefer to be informed. And always remember, we are not a vet hospital. While we don't make any sugggestions without first researching and discussing with our local vets first, we also don't pretend to be something we are not. |
LOOKING FOR HOMES: Buddha and Diddo have been with us for a year now and are looking for homes. They can go separately and both are up-to-date on their vaccinations. |
Buddha, a Lhasa, is approximately four years old. He will do best as an only pet with no children or older children. (He gets along with other dogs, but can be cranky at times with them). Buddha is not neutered, and would probably make a nicer house dog if he was (he likes to mark his territory). He is a love and will make a great companion for someone.
|
Diddo, a Pekinese, is also approximately four years old. She is easy to settle and we think she would do fine with other dogs and kids. She isn't familiar with cats and chased ours while in our house. She is also very sweet! Oh - she does snore like a freight train though!
Someone asked me if they can be adopted together, since they came in as brother and sister. Yes, they can, but so many people can only take one and these are dogs that would thrive individually. If you are interested, please call 508-255-0081 or email: [email protected] (As with any adoption though, these are ONLY our suggestions and must not be taken as anything but suggestions based on what we've seen here and with the dogs in our own homes). |
